One that will some day rule ze Vorld! HAHAHA!
My wife was kind enough to wait patiently and read a book while I took a quick turn around a small park in a tiny town called New Carlisle, Indiana. The new Indian casino had opened up a couple counties away and we were on a holiday weekend road trip. I was picking up lots of clad, mostly pennies. Had about 10 so far and worked my way to the front steps of a gazebo. I got another penny/bottle top signal on the old xlt spectrum and thought for second. Do I really want to bother digging another modern penny? Well I opted to do it anyway and when this gold color popped out of the ground, I almost fainted!
I am researching this coins origins right now. Anyone have any ideas?
Its about 11 mm wide and 1 mm thick.

Happy Hunting!

I believe thats what they call a "Maximilliam", the story I'm told is they were minted in the 1940s by a private company, sometimes they have a 1800s date to make them appear to be california gold, worth its weight in gold, but no numismatic value.............fred

SN,
I couldn't believe it when I read this post! I know exactly where you found this at. The park downtown, and the gazebo. I am from LaPorte, and was just back in New Carlisle earlier this month with my son to visit my Dad & do some MDing & fishing. I kept passing by the park telling my son "I have to MD this park before we leave". I never did get around to it. :'(
That's an OLD town as you know. A lot of very old houses along the main street. I drool everytime I drive past them. ;D
A BIG congrats to you on your gold coin. That had to be very exciting.
