Military Shovel

Basic question, but tell me your opinion on the shovels you all use? I've already been through a cheap folding military shovel. I went back and bought the better one. That one got all bent up too. I'm now using an ace hardware shovel that works well but I really don't like the way it looks when carrying around a construction shovel. It looks way too destructive. Don't want people to think I'm like that wacko on American Digger. So give me some feedback on where or which type of shovel you guys like. I get into some tough soil here in VA so I need something tough.

I prefer something more trowel sized. It makes a smaller, neater hole that is easy to fill. It is lighter to carry, but can still be strong. Mine has a pointed end, which means I can tilt it and use an edge to slowly scrape through top layers looking for things near the surface.

If I'm digging in yards or other open areas I like the Lesche Soil Knife. If I am going out in the woods and I have to hack through roots I use a Lesche Mini Pick or an older Army E-Tool, like Vietnam era or older.

Has anybody tried this 6" root cutter from Shark Corporation?

It looks like it would be really handy with those 4-6 inch deep small roots that I have trouble getting the Lesche through. It seems the Lesche serrated side should extend further down towards the tip. The price looks right. I might pick one up for those times. I have given up on several good signals because I just couldn't get down there without making a huge mess of things.
