Mind boggling food for thought

Not mind boggling at all. It's like saying that if pi (π) wasn't designed by someone to be precisely what it is, circles wouldn't work. It's kind of a dumb argument.

All of these constants are the results on the mathematics we've invented to describe the universe. Somewhere out there is an advanced civilization with 8 fingers who use an octal numbering system and different mathematics so they will have completely different constants. It's a result, not a causality.

Math doesn’t impress me much. It’s like forcing a square peg into a round hole. Yeah, it works most of the time. But physics stuff like the strength of gravity there’s not much room for error. A little more and the universe would never live long enough for life to form—too little and stars would not ignite. He had a whole list of stuff like that. The probabilities are impossible. They try to excuse it by saying there could be an infinite number of universes and ours just happened to get everything perfect. I call that grasping at straw.

Regardless of what anyone thinks about how it came to be that way, the simple fact is, the universe had to be the way it is, or we would not be here trying to understand it.

That’s the point. It had to be just about perfectly the way it is.

Well, I can’t give an example off the top of my head, how about Pi? We don’t have the exact number. Probably never will.

Pi is not a number you can precisely know because it is an infinite non repeating number. You can keep doing the math and keep calculating, but you will never be "done". But really, once you're past a couple hundred decimal places, does it even matter?
 
I just watched this early this morning and it melted my brain.
Yeah, the odds of the universe ending up exactly as it is are just about infinite, yet everything works so perfectly. The idea that is just happened this way is even harder to believe.

And there’s more, just look at our solar system. Everything had to be just right— the Earth had to be nearly perfect distance from the sun, there had to be bigger planets to catch meteors from constantly destroying life on the planet, the sun had to be just right so there was enough time for life to develop before it burned out or died off. The moon had to be here, Earth’s magnetic field had to be here, intelligent life had to develop. I don’t remember what else. You multiply all the odds and that alone says there is no intelligent lifeforms anywhere else in the universe.

The point is math is not perfect. That video tried to claim otherwise. I don’t agree.
 
They can calculate the magnetic moment quite precisely like the distance between LA and NYC with an error the width of a human hair. How big is that error over 13 billion light years? It’s close enough to make predictions.

A scientist raises his fist into the air and says “God, we don’t need you anymore! We have created life, we take some dirt and some enzymes and some electricity…” Just then God interrupts, “Get your own dirt!”

Pi is an irrational number. But its value is exactly the same for anyone on Earth, forever and ever, to whatever number of decimal places you wish to take it. Currently it has been calculated to 314 trillion decimal places (which I find quite impressive). If another computer were to repeat that feat, do you think the answers will be the same, or different?
 
I listened to the video and found it interesting in many ways. It's far above my ability to understand much of what was discussed but I enjoyed it. I do not agree with the multiverse. It seems a convenient way to get around intelligent design that most scientists seem to have a real problem with.

'ID' does not adhere to nor is it supported by the scientific method. It is more like throwing up your hands when confronted with the unknown and claiming ' therefore GAWD!! ' which has not been infrequent over the millennia.

So If you chose not to understand according to science ... you still have made a choice !
 
I never said I agree or disagree with ID. I said science has a real problem with it. Not surprising there, but it takes faith either way to believe in something you cannot prove if given the choice of a multiverse or ID.

Didn't mean to single you out. You should have be 'someone' . There is no faith in science. It is just the current understand based on what is known. There are theories, but they are qualified as such. Many things are not yet sorted out, and scientists are trying to figure that stuff out. They admit ( or should ) what things are unknown.
