Not sure what the changes are, the coil looks pretty sweet though.
Found it on another website, I dont think I can link it.

At least the coil doesn't remind me of a fish backbone. I wonder when they are going to make a Explorer hip mountable to save weight on the old arm. Be nice to take it wading.........

A new SE already, looks like they messed something up that needed fixing. That, or there enough crazy users that need the latest it's worth while to keep pumping them out.

According to Tony Pasquale @ KellyCo the only thing Minelab changed was the coil & the name, adding PRO!

My self after i saw it i thought that is about all they did to it.............Just like the Excalibur diffrent coil and diffrent color and added Pro to the title and that is it.....................==Jim==

This sounds like something White's would do! Shame on Minelab!! White's teased us with the DFX & MXT 300's all that was different was the 12" coil. Not worth the price increase. Oh well, maybe they will release a new machine after the White's PI units come out and the market shifts again. For now I am happy with my MXT and Quattro. I may look at the "SE" non-pro in the future, if the price is right. I do not understand why these companies think we are stupid. Maybe if they listened to their users and made the changes to the machines that we recommend they would have better brand loyalty.

Everyone thinks the newer ones gotta be better or why would the company bring it out. Then there is the snob appeal of having the newest to show to your buddies and dumb brother in law.

Jim, this is the brother in law that I wrapped a bread twist tie on his coil and it took him quite a while to figure out something was wrong. Besides you have to know this guy, he lies about his fish too. Natch I won't.

hehe, kinda makes me happy about getting an Explorer SE soon, i guess i will just have to wait a while untill the "pro" comes out and maybe save me a few bucks by getting the "older" model....

As long as its not that much more than the SE I would get the pro, two of the biggest gripes are the overall weight, and the poor performance of the slimline coil. It may be worth the money to pay a little more for the pro.

its not a new SE, only a new coil. if you want the latest version you only need to buy the coil.

It's not that unusual. We see it all the time in other products. Look at automobiles. Often there is nothing more than cosmetic changes. The idea is some people like a model, but don't want to buy a 5 year old product.

Besides, it helps lower the cost to buy a used one

The SE PRO has been already shipped to a few US dealers as of over a week ago & should be in stock.I did not ask which dealers but I assume KellyCo is on the top.
I sent My Quattro in for repair & Minelab replaced the system board & threw in a new Slimline coil & am awaiting delivery by UPS next week Friday..So basically got a new & upgraded detector

Almost all the reviews I read on the SE said the unit was a little unstable because of a poorly designed coil. The SE PRO is obviously the fix. It would be nice if the new SE PRO coil could be bought and used on the SE. Even better would be a coil trade in and upgrade to current owners. MINELAB are you listening?
