JOEL, JACK...

Send me your information please. I will have an answer for you within a day.

Appreciate it, but I don't have any issue as of yet. Not expecting any action till next month.

Jack

To matters---I read that on another post about the wrong charger being used--not the case with me. Read all my posts in this thread and you should be able to follow my issue (unless I mis-led you unintentionally) To Jack--Good luck with your problem--keep me posted on this thread--please. To 4-H--I appreciate your confidence in Minelab products! I have a good "gut" feeling about Minelab and I am going to stick with them through this re-building period. QUICK analogy---I run a business with 6 employees and it is very rare when they come up and thank me for plentiful work or up to date equipment--it is usually complaints. Think about it--when was the last time you sat down and said "last Thursday was a great day"--NO WAY--We only remember the miserable days when things did not go well---HUMAN NATURE. There are thousands of satisfied customers of Minelab, Whites, Garretts etc..........however the majority of input into the Forums is about negative unit performance---Re: being discouraged about that particular unit--WHICH IS FINE--everyone wants to know about the various problems encountered on a unit--and they all have them. Minelab is currently in an adjustment phase and I feel very strongly they will come out on top-----

I like Minelab and you said re-building period but that has been going on for 3 years or more now. Is the re-building period going to be like our Cleveland Browns & Indians---------------They have been re-building for 30 years or more now and they are still rebuilding---------?????

To 4-H, Sending my excal II Fed Ex overnight this afternoon. Enclosed a note with problems encountered and hope to hear from service soon. I will keep posting as I hear anything. Thank You

Well, heres my update, Machine number 3.. excal 2.. being sent back ups tomorrow.. works fantastic in wet sand and dry.. messed up in the water.. Had her tested by Surfdigger.. no go in the water at all.. so, beings the Minelab diehard true blue love their machines... I am trying for getting nearly two months, on a new outta the box machine that works properly.. so I guess number 4 will be heading my way soon.. MINELAB I HAVE FAITH IN YA... Please send me a good one.. I am going into water withdrawls..Our winter storms will be heading our way soon.. But I have to say again, Gary, Ewout and Mike ( 4-h ) are bending over backwards to help me.. so I will wait again for the UPS truck.. I think I can put it together now with my eyes closed .. little humor helps..

To all: Received an e-mail from my dealer--Bob McGinnis at Fort Bedford Metal Detectors today. He just returned from a Minelab training session in Massachusettes and explained my problem to the Minelab people there. There response, of course, was that I would be taken care of. My package will arrive in Downers Grove, Illinois this afternoon along with a very detailed note on not only the problems my detector has had-- but also some insight to the service department as to what the customers of Minelab are saying. I sure do not want to end up in booty bays situation--Hopefully #4 will be the one!! I too am sticking with Minelab--Joel

You have a great dealer Joel!
Bob is a class act and delivers the customer service all dealers should take notes on!

We will have you taken care of guys. After all, the consumer has to be main priority. Right?

Mike

I can second the notion that Bob is a class act - he will do everything he can to help you. :icon_thumright: Since my home is only a few miles from his, I have not only bought two Etracs from him, but since those purchases we have had a blast doing a lot of hunting together.... ;D If only I could afford Minelab's Pulse Induction machine then he would sell me another unit. :tongue3:

And from what I see here its easy to tell Mike is a great dealer as well - congrats on your award from Minelab, Mike! :hello2:

Thank you .

To all: Ewout from service called Bob last evening and Bob suggested a new fully tested Excal II be sent to me replacing my problem machine. We will see.

UPDATE #7---Received a call from Darren in the service department today and he said they received my Excal II and decided to hold on to it for further testing and will be sending me a new unit next week. As soon as I receive it I will let you know and also after testing the unit---I will send an update (hopefully the final one). Bootybay-How are you making out?---Thanks, Joel

Just to Clarify guys I did not speak with, but had an email from Ewout Kozel. I'm glad they are replacing the unit. I do believe Minelab is doing their best to make the Service Department second to none. The people that I have been working with in Downers Grove are the Best that I have worked with in my short time as a dealer. Like 4H I'm a hobbyist first and a dealer second. I got into this stuff because I really believe Minelab makes the best detectors period. I'm very passionate about Detecting, I live for it. I do use other machines from time to time. Just to test them and see if I'm missing out on something but I keep picking up my E-Trac for serious hunting.

Bob

I decided to call Darren back BEFORE the unit was shipped and asked him to have it checked out throughly first. He called me back today and said he would take care of it. I thought that was nice of him.

Same Here Bob

Case Closed--Received my new Excal II today from Minelab. Darren called me and said he personally tested the machine before shipping. I tested it and everything works great! Need to put it in the water yet-- but bench tests passed. I am pleased with everything that Minelab has done for me and will continue to support them. I realize there are still some out there who have had negative experiences with Minelab and may choose not to use their product. To that group I would say give them a second chance ( or 3rd--right Bootybay). I think part of the reason that things went smoothly was the fact that my dealer--Fort Bedford Metal Detectors--got involved, and I too made numerous phone calls and talked to the factory reps and service dept. Communication both ways helped immensely. You were right 4-H, everything did work out just fine. HH everyone

UPDATE #3

Received a call from Minelab. I called back and made a payment for repairs. Supposed to be here by Friday. So far so good, took two months though.

Let you know how it arrives. Might be on the beach this weekend.

HH, Jack
