From what I can tell the soverign Gt has the same circutry as the excal just not in a waterproof version my question is are any of the accomplished beach hunters using these? I am from Arizona and have used mostly "gold machines" but would like to branch out a bit and hit the parks etc. and also have a machine that would preform well on the occasional trip to the coast. Does the Soverign gt fit that bill or can you recommend something else? Thanks, Jeff from Tucson, AZ.

The Sov Gt is an excellent beach detector an many here use them. The circuitry is not quite the same as an Excal as it has a couple other features. You can also change coils. Many beach hunters use the Coiltech 15 inch WOT coil and with waterproof connectors it can be used as a wading detector. It is only surpassed in depth by a Pulse Induction detector.

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME IF I ORDER THE 15" wot coil, for my Excalibur,How will it differ from the stock minelab 10'.also Will i be able to install myself,I have heard alot of positive comments, concerning the wot coil. What will i notice different by using the Wot coil,I'm worried about messing the detector up,buy doing something wrong.Ronald99

There are kits that you can get from Coiltech for attaching the connectors and waterproof covering. I am all thumbs and would have to have it professionally done. Basically the WOT coil will cover more ground under the coil than a 10 inch. Get lots deeper and because of this, have more of a matrix to analyze. Max uses a WOT coil with his Sov. GT.

When i was a kid,i use to take things apart, and try putting them back togeather,If i try installing the wot coil,i will end up buying another Excalibur.Sandman i will be happy if i can just learn 50 percent of the knowledge, that you demonstrate on this forum,Hopefully in a few week's down in Florida,i will have learned something, and be able to post some finds,I want to thank everyone that has helped me since Ive became a member.Ronald99 ??? ::)
