Slot machine slug - the machines took nickels and paid off (if lucky) in these tokens that could be exchanged for a package of mints at the candy counter of the business that had the machines. There are many different types.

These were used for a long time - say 1915-1945. When gambling was made illegal (usually on a local option basis) these tokens were used to get around the laws.

I found one like yours. One side says "good for one package of mints" the other side has the number 35054
