Hi;
I consider my relic digging hobby as having at least four points of pleasure: researching a dig area/hunting it/finding a relic/researching the find.
This weekend I dug a Connecticut cuff button (my first) in an area where I have dug four (CT-13A) Connecticut coat buttons. The coat buttons all had a Scovill MFG Co Waterbury back mark so I assumed the cuff would have some variation of that. To my surprise it has a "Palanzuelos V. CA" bm. Researching this bm I discovered that in 1850 Scovill had made buttons for a Cuban firm and they were backmarked with "Palanzuelos Menendez V. CA" at some later time some of the surplus button backs made their way onto some northern buttons. This button being one of them.
