The blade on your knife is long gone - the part you are seeing is the spine of the knife (not sure if that's the correct name) - similar to this piece shown between the handles / scales....

The patent dates (12/13/92 and 12/31/95) shown in the first picture show it to be from a Velvet Grip sock suspender... sorry about the disturbing image! :tongue3:
