Re: Modified White's Classic II

I'll probably send my Mother in Laws machine but I'm going to have some fun with another Classic ID that I plan on picking up.

I've got all the necessary tools to do the job, like O-scopes, signal generators, VOM, etc. plus a degree in Electronics and computers so I can figure it out.

It will be a nice learning experience.

Looks to me you have made your detector into a more expensive unit....I have seen several ham radios where the board had the place for a componet, but it was not there...you did a really nice job.

Hi Mike...
just wondering if you could show the final hookup of the wires to the pots...I could probably figure this out myself, but better safe than sorry...

I sold that unit to some guy in Russia last year. I use Troy's Shadow X5, Shadow X2, and a Minelab Musketeer now. He seemed very happy with it.
Take care, Mike

Nokta/Makro products, as well as others. Self built Mirage PI's. The Mirage is excellent in trashy sites, unlike many PI's.

Good job,
Not sure how you removed the trim pot.
If you used desoldering braid with out have come off the board very easy.
Thought I would mention this for future reference or to help others who might do the same mod.
The braid wicks the solder off the pad and part lead so the part will come right off leaving a nice clean pad and hole
