monster fish hook heartbreaker

biggest fish hook i have ever seen in my life
too bad it is broke
i still love it like crazy
must have caught some monster channel cats and sturgeon
i wonder if i should try to have it repaired
i just am amazed by the size!

Steve, that is a nice piece. I agree it is a big hook it must have been used to catch some whoppers. As far as restoration I would do some checking around and find someone who know's what they are doing, who will do it right that is a neat piece I like the way they notched the shaft of the hook. That's also a interestng bit of pottery laying on the ground next to it in the first photo, Great find Steve !!!

Awfully fancy for a Fish Hook. I wonder of it might actually have been a toggle for holding something together, like maybe holding a large skin across a doorway or something along those lines.

hey larson, thats a very nice piece, check this out and see what you think. the dark one is the turrtle bone I found and it was whittled down on the end to fit into a socket, the big piece on the left side is antler.... the middle pic is the reporduction my buddy made from the design of a real on. These are composite fish hooks and are kinda rare to find. Mine is a water find. The way your piece looks and the thickness of it reminded me of this one..
