Found this hunting near battlefield site in Virginia. I think it is part of a scale weight and not related to the battle. It is made of brass and approximately 2” in diameter. It has 3 dots on front which may indicate weight? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Although often called a trade weight its proper term is a Pan Weight, as it often isn't used for trade, and as your has no verification marks no-one trading with it would have an official trust in it.
Looking at it, I would date it to the late 18th C.
