Wen't out for a few hours very nice sunny day in SoCal, not to much Gold about 20 colors but it all adds up I guess just glad I can get out and enjoy nature and find a little Gold.

How deep would you say the small tree roots are in photo 3?
My guess is around 15 - 25 feet or so. Perhaps that is where bedrock is. Would digging around the brush be closer to bedrock?
Just my guess you may have a better idea on this.

Hi Assembler. I have no idea how deep the root system is for those Tree's or how deep Bedrock is. I have reached out to a members brother and invited him to my Claim to show him about prospecting we had a good time sluicing and found some Gold. He is a Navy seal and I was happy to show him what I know he went back up with his scuba gear to poke around in the river and the deep pools but had no luck. Any way he said he would be up for digging down to bedrock some time I don't think I can do it myself lol When that time comes I will post a story.

This is very common for others as well having a hard time digging down to bedrock both now and in the past. You could be the first to get to that point.
My suggestion if you want to call it that is perhaps where there are only brush or much smaller trees growing the bedrock should be at a lesser depth. Trees tend to grow only as well as the roots can go down to that tends to be the bedrock level.
The other suggestion is if you can run water over the boulders first before moving you will likely find more colors with this method.
Another suggestion is to take a very good look at the rock boulders for any colors as this could help on a focus plan of attack that the Navy seal may relate to.

California has one of the richest histories in the world so doing some research could help bigtime on getting down to bedrock with different methods.
Let us know what you think as you dig a little deeper into both methods and what you see and find out in just the boulder pile you and your friend will find out.

Perhaps something like this garden cart could be made and used to move the smaller boulders away.
This is made out of wood however steel would be better.
