We have been taking walks up and down the street lately. The other day, we walked to the north end of our property line and then cut into our field and walked all over. Tonight, we decided to take the same route. As we turned into the field, we were talking about finding NA artifacts, and he was saying how the farmer was going to work the ground a little next year and that would be my chance to find something. Then he says, "Look at that!" Right there lying on top of the ground was this point! Unbelievable! We walked right by it a couple days ago! He picked it up and I made him put it back down so I could get a pic. That part was kind of funny, if you could of heard me. LOL Any ways, here it is, his first ever NA find.

Congrats Mr. WD.....That's a beauty !!

Thank you Tdog. I was just trying to look that up. Am I correct in saying that it is made from chert?

Edit: And what does "valid type" mean?

You're welcome. Yes, it is some type of chert. Not sure what "valid type" means.

Thank you for pointing that out.

thank you

Thank you.

Thank you

Thank you and welcome to Treasurenet!

Thank you. The dude is teasing me big time! Rubbing it in, then telling me I can have it. Then telling me I can't 'cause I'll lose it. When he told me he was going to sell it, I nearly cried! Such a brat!

Thank you.

Thank you. Together and with our friend/neighbors property, that's like the 5th artifact. I hope we find more. Flint huh? It's obvious I am clueless here. Upon looking it up, says flint is a kind of chert. IDK? New territory for me. I will have to learn all of this.

First glance had me thinking flint.
Not saying what it is though.
Of interest ,always ;is possible source for the raw material.
You are in a state that had paths and interactions among many people.
Lithics traveled for multiple reasons...
My point (pun intended) is that there were local and distant sources.
Your area had a source ,or sources.
More observations of worked material from your area , and from similar era should show a trend.
Some one ,or a group , knows where your hubby's piece likely originated...

Here's some fun if you get bored. Not saying it relates to your site. But similar info (but regarding your area) is what you might want to investigate midwinter when cabin fever sets in...

Thanks for the link. I have dabbled in researching Flint Ridge before. I would like to go there some day. Put it on the list.
