Ok so I decided to share my first 3 weeks of hunting. I started with some dimes, niclkels and 1k in quarters. I ordered my first 1k of halfs the day I picked up the quarters. I got 3 mercs and a few roosies. I also was waiting on my Penny sorter so i started calling around asking for 1k in pennies. The first bank says yes they can do that after verifying I wanted $1,000.00 in pennies like 5 times during the call and told me they would be next week. I was so excited then I drop in to pick them up and they told me they were sorry but they had to cancel my order as the felt it was a hassle. (They have no idea of hassle at this point). So i kindle snatch up all there halves and leave with steam coming out from under my collar. So i call my other bank and they say no problem pick them up friday. So I get there and they have a dolly waiting for me to move my pennies :headbang:. So I gather them up and grab some halves and dimes on the way out. Now the fun begins. I start running the sorter and decide I need more coins. 1-2k pennies a week. I call around to a few more branches and get the "Are you fvcking serious voice" and proceed to tell me they would be happy to at the tune of .15 a roll. I then tell them im not interested. So the hunt begins for .50 ,dimes and penny suppliers. I hop in the 2002 dodge coin hauler and off I go looking for a bank. I walk into a large bank and ask for a box of halves and 1k in dimes. The teller reaches under the counter and plus out 1500.00 in times and asked if i wanted all of it so I tell her yes and I wait for her to return with the halves :-). I get my coins and leave. I return a few days later and pick up the same. Mind you I wasnt even a member. So this time i get bags from the coin machine and some wrapped. As im walking out the door i see my wife wave and drive the coin hauler to the other side of the parking lot thinking she was cute.. So I start running across the parking lot carrying two canvas bags which was enough to attract the attention of a police officer driving by. So he pulls in the parking lot and hit the sirens/lights hops from the car and pulls his glock and yells at me to stop. Im standing there in the rain with my hood up on my sweatshirt, with money bags in both hands up,looking down the officers barrel. I drop the bags and put my hands up etc... So after this little misunderstanding we had a laugh and I left. He said it looked suspicious cause I had money bags and was sprinting out the bank door with my hood up. :D . So after finding a few silver halves i decide to open a business account under my LLC there so I can I can order big coin orders. When setting up the business account i told them i would need 5k in coin a week and if they cant accommodate that ill take my business else ware. They say they dont charge the .08 a roll to business account holders. :hello2: So once i get it open I drop into the teller and place my weekly order and she tells me when I said large amounts of coin they thought a box or two or quarters etc.. They then proceeded to feed me BULLSHIT lines. I tell them I will take the coins in bags instead of rolls and they say they cant do that because they roll all coin bags they get from the fed. So I cancel everything but 3k in halves and figure im going to give it one week. So it was going to cost me 24.00 to pick up my coinage. I bite the bullet and decide when i come pick them up im going to bitch and complain that I wasnt getting charged and was picking up coin as as a nonmember, and now that im a member im getting charged. Hoping they drop the charge. :dontknow: I get a call telling me the coins were in and the Fed weighs the bags the send and the need to count them to verify and will sort them into 1k bags and charge 1.00 a bag. This i can live with. When i get there friday to get the coins the teller said it was a good thing they double counted because although the bags had the same weight one was short 10.00. SILVER loaded came to mind. So i get home and run the first bag and get 3 40% ers. I get the second bag and pullout 3 silver in the first handful. :o I keep going and I pull 56 40% 9 90% and 1 ben 9% and a few nonsilver proof coins and 3 rolls of BU Bicentennials. SCORE!!! I was right the mint weighed the bag right but the dollar amount wasnt right because of the silver  . Now to my penny sorting ......Im at 30% copper and 10-15 wheat/canadians a box. I call the bank up i got the pennies from and tried to order 1k more and they said the head office has rules and they will need to see what to charge. So i wait and she tells me that they said NO PROBLEM. I told her I wanted 1k a week indefinitely ad she said oooookk. Now i need to find another supplier for another 1k a week. I also got the dog opening rolls for me and she will go all day long. Pics below

Interesting story, how are you going to dump all those pennies? ???

I totally confused, you found some mercs and rosies in your $1k in halves? Then you ordered $1,500 in "times". You "kindle snatched" something, now I'm really lost, and just quit reading. I apologize.

I plan on dumping them at the bank that just decided that ordering pennies would be a hassle. :-) I also found out that bank rolls all the coins that get brought in by hand . Heheheheh.

I know you're new to this but you have to realize how banks feel about people who order 1 K in pennies and dump 1 K in pennies. It ruins it for the other CRHers and perhaps the hobby. Some other dude had dumped 1 K in pennies once at a bank I went to and they were pissed. I had some rolls of pennies to dump like 5 bucks worth and the teller wanted to send it off to be counted instead of just giving me cash for it. Yeah, they didn't like dealing with crazy dumps but they take it out on me for $5 in pennies? You're really shooting yourself in the foot when you go overboard with it but I suppose you could find a large bank that could take the order if you're willing to pay the fees. Dumping after ordering at the same bank will not get you more large orders at that bank. If I were you, I would order say $200 in pennies from a few different banks in your area so that the sum adds up to be $1K. Be considerate about it man.. you'll benefit in the long run that way. Can't get too selfish or get too ahead of yourself, people will see that and will be less likely to help out.

Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. I have been doing this for about 2 years now and most of the banks i go to are kool with me because i pace myself. While at some of the banks who finally figured out im a coin colector [took some time because i take it easy] i have learned [ by friendly chit chat] that much of the time fees or new rules are made it is because someone got greedy.
Many on this forum have debated pushing the issue when ordering and dumping tho i dont understand why because it seems no good comes of it. Lately my in bank discussions are about how many greedy people come in for the free coffee and take in giant mugs that use 5 coffee containers or just come in and take a bunch of the packets home while not even a member of the bank.

I have 4 banks in the areas with coin counting machines in the lobby that seem to be quicker to use then the bank i wanted to use for revenge. So if i stop at these banks two times a week after work (Which i dont pickup from ). I hopefully wont get the same coins as im dumping them in another state. Also picking up at different banks etc.... I like the bank i have thats getting the 1k a week, the ladies are so nice there. I fixed there dolly tire so they dont have to carry the boxes by hand :-).

sounds like you have an awesome setup... im impressed you have $300 a week to toss into your copper collection...

As long as you don't dump where you're eating.. that's a cardinal rule of this hobby. One of the banks I go to recently had some other penny guy get CWR from them and return them back the next day. The teller told me that merchants don't want coins in paper wraps and the manager is considering stopping people from doing this because it just wastes the teller's time. I told them to give the guy my dumps.. that will get rid of him. It's amazing how people let greed overcome them and shoot themselves in the foot.

BTW, how long does it take for you to sort through 1k in pennies with your sorter? I have a sorter too but I take it slow. I do probably one box per day. Dumping around here is the main issue.. no coin counters.
