Eight in one day!

I few days ago I found a little dump area where someone threw a bunch of Civil War cannonballs into the river. Just posting it up now because it took me some time to get them drilled and rendered inert. I always like to have that done before I post them ;) They all came from the same area, but notice how the one in the center has a thick cocoon of rust and rocks, but some are almost perfectly clean. Just about killed this ol' boy hauling them back to the truck. I had to stop digging them because I knew I'd be lucky if I could carry all of these out.

I don't think the round ones with the fuzes were fired as they are not punched for the range.

Took yesterday off from digging and did a little scouting. Saw plenty!

Thanks for checking out my post!

Man oh man. What a haul. Do you hunt in camp areas or battle areas? GREAT finds. Tennessee digger

I fly a Powered Paraglider. I'm sitting in a cloth seat and wearing the motor strapped to my back like a backpack. Just a quick run across the yard and I'm flying. It's a great way to scout for digging sites and I've found many with it.

I hunt it all. I also like to find dumps. People didn't like to have 'splody things hanging around the house or field.

You are making all of us drool. How does that make you feel, lol..... Thanks for sharing the great finds and the flying pic. Looking forward to see the rest of them.

Do you sell any of your finds? Seems like could make a pretty good living.

Nope, I've never sold anything in over 30 years of detecting. Given away some, donated some, traded some, but never profited. Not that there is anything wrong with that :)

edit-- I've have sold some gold and silver rings for melt.

Copy that .The only thing I have ever sold is gold and one coin. I wish I still had that. Lots of rusty junk around the house.

Dude, you reminded me, I did sell off some gold rings for melt I found at the beach one time. So I guess I'll have to say "sold nothing historic" for now on...

That's awesome there. Going to Natchez next weekend with friends to hunt a camp. Wish me luck. HH
