Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
I was introduced to metal detecting by my little brother when I returned to Phoenix, after being honorably discharged from the Army (after three-years of service in 1976). I had some PTSD issues, and he took me out to the goldfields hunting for gold nuggets with a C & C Bobcat metal detector. I found my first nugget on the second day (10.7-grams), and I was hooked! This year marks 49-years of metal detecting in 39-states; four countries. I have found just about everything – gold nuggets; silver nuggets; gold rings; silver rings; A 1978 one‑ounce Gold Krugerrand; a diamond ring; more clad than I can count or remember and silver coins out the wazoo! One of my most noteworthy discoveries was a cache containing 27 Morgan silver dollars. I almost had a heart attack! Recovering silver coins in Arizona goldfields is also pretty cool, because they are usually in pristine condition (couple of examples pictured). Show some of your favorite silver finds!
