I've been detecting for about 6 weeks; just in my own yard. I wanted to learn my detector so I wouldn't be digging giant holes in public.
Well after finding 70 pennies ( 4 wheats), 3 quarters, 10 nickels, 10 dimes, and a giant pile of trash. I found a bicentennial Eisenhower dollar! Yippee it wasn't a penny! Too bad it's not silver. It is very dark, and I know better than to clean collectible coins, but I'd like to know is there a way to clean this so it is silver looking again?
And digging those pennies has paid off. I no longer have to dig a 2x3 pit to find a coin.
Happy hunting to all and don't laugh to hard at the newbie, my neighbors already think I'm nuts.
