russau, thanks for the compliment! The museum Curator told me that they wanted to put all 34 cases on display in 2026 and would like if I gave a top 10 list presentation. Picking the top 10 will be a challenge. considering the cases hold 177 artifacts over the past 8 seasons.
Kudos Blackfoot58. Each year 3rd graders from the local school are given a tour of the museum so they'll also see some of the displays there. Who knows, maybe a few will be inspired to one day get their own metal detector and search for more.

pepperj, thanks and I agree about the amount of time it takes. Detecting/digging the artifacts seems to be the easy part (though we all know it isn't easy). Coming up w/ context that hopefully others will take interest in - brings the artifacts "to life". Kudos to you for sharing some of your finds w/ property owners.

Chilli, a good deed on your part shot down before it got off the ground. Damn! The Curator I work with has first right of refusal. But even when they don't want something, they tell me in a respectful way. Usually, its because I've already given them something similar and they're running out of room. If there is a silver lining in your experience just think by "re"placing in the ground other detectorists will learn more about their detectors and practice cuss words!It's great to know they are appreciated too.
I have detected for something over 30 yrs. Gold and coins and relics. My last move to the town we are at now I was looking at all the things I still had. I had given quite a lot away to people I knew that liked that type of thing. But I had a lot left, Cricket (the game and very collectable) belt buckles and broaches, buttons with various designs and types, chinese coins, tokens, old 1800s to early 1900s costume jewelry. Bottles too with embossing on them. So I approached the main guy from the Historical Dunolly Gold Museum in the famous Gold town of Dunolly and offered it all to them, they could have the lot or anything they want. There was some very good stuff. He said to me arrogantly as it could be without even looking, stuck up self absorbed self expert, "I highly doubt you will have anything of any significance that would interest us!" Didn't want to even look. What an idiot.
He was very wrong.
