I spent the weekend with Iron Patch and Iron Horse and we scoured a few old favorite spots. The first spot we hit on Day One had been hunted frequently in the past but had just been ploughed so it had potential. I scored my first Royal Artillary button here as well as the nicest gilt button I have ever dug and a very cool wax seal (also a first). I was thrilled with the Artillary button as I have been looking for one for the past two years without any luck. On the wax seal is Britannia holding an anchor. My best two coins of the day came from this site as well, 1791 Condor token and the 1813 Trade and Navigation token.

The last site of the day was really just a time killer. This was one of IP's original hunting areas from years gone by so he warned me not to expect too much. I went in looking for a keeper or two and was not disappointed. As we were leaving I was swinging my way to the car when I got a nice solid hit. Out popped the silver Georgian era whistle with the "IT" makers mark on the flute. A little research found that the maker was Joseph Taylor who was a British silversmith in the late 1700s and the early 1800s. The whistle appears intact but is (as seen) a little crumpled. I am thinking of sending it off to have it restored. This relic is amazing in that you can see the teeth marks of the person who owned it. I am very pleased with this and will update if it can be restored.

Thanks again to Iron Patch for hosting and sharing his sites! Looking forward to the winter MD meeting!

Romeo or IP,

What did Iron Horse find? :icon_sunny:

Wow! Unbelievable beautyfoul finds! Congratulations! Good luck on your next hunt! Pannonian

Romeo,

That is an amazing bunch of finds there!

I am very thankful to have a good buddy, just as you do in IP, that has taken me to more than a few of his sites. Although most of the sites have been hunted before, no one person can get all the keepers.

The whistle is my favorite!! I'd love to see it restored!!

Congrats,

Thanks Dan...the whistle is my favorite find of the summer. There really is no such thing as hunted out is there. It a couple years a new detector will be invented that can reach even greater depths and voila...just like starting over.

IP is a helluva guy...I should be paying him for these hunts...hmmmm...business proposition Iron Patch?

If I could get my coil over a cannonball or some trade silver over there I would consider that a lifetime's worth of dues...

All I could say was WOW! while checking out this Fantastic post. You da man... Super nice finds.

WOW! Romeo!! Just LOVE that whistle.....hope you're able get it restored.
Be sure & post a picture when you do!
You made many nice finds. Congrats!!

That has to be one of the best assortments of finds for a 1 day hunt that I could ever imagine. I dream of one copper - you have 15. You found a 200 eyar old silver whistle - that is beyond priceless to me. And with all the other odd assortment, I would have to assume that is enough to pay for another detector, or two! I am very impressed, and amazed. Thank you for sharing.

Awesome finds, very nice!!! HH, Mike

Romeo,
