I had a banner week in the local park and church little league field here in town this week. I scored 22 silver coins and bought 7 more with crusty clad....a 23 Peace dollar, a 1906 Barber half, a 58 Franklin Half, 41, 42-D, 43, and 45 walkers.

The 27 SLQ was 7 inches deep in the outfield of the ball diamond.

It's been a week to remember. My first S minted quarter, the 53 in the bottom picture...my first dated SLQ, and the first time I have ever found 2 SLQs in one week.

I'll take a month like that anytime. I didn't see a pin on you're map. How am I supposed to find this spot? :D :D :D

I added a 57 rosie to my finds today.....and found enough clad between the park and a local schoolyard today to buy 2 more walking liberty half dollars. That's 32 pieces of silver in my pouch in 8 days, 1 silver dollar, 8 halves, plus the 9 silver quarters and 14 silver dimes that I dug.

I don't mind finding clad anymore, though I used to find it disappointing.....now I just buy silver with it, so it is still silver coinage derived from this hobby, and some of my coins aren't dug...which isn't a bad thing either. I also have more silver dollars and halves than I would ever find with the detector.

I really like that idea of buying silver with the clad- mine is just sitting in old fruit jars in the basement collecting dust- I think I'll go buy some silver with that!

There are lots of folks who have saved every single coin they've ever found. The clad is never going to appreciate in value.....silver and gold, on the other hand....most likely will. For some it's about what they dig up....for me, it's about amassing a treasure, if even a small one. I'm getting to where I have a pretty nice little stash now....over 250 silver coins. I would have had a milk pail full of dirty and damaged clad by now......worth face value.

Another point to ponder....what happens if the government decides that the best way to quell this hobby, which is seen only as a lot of untaxed, unearned income to our millionaire lawmakers...is to pass a law allowing the banks to refuse this crusty clad?....then what do you have? In my view, you're better off to buy something worth having.

CLAD

for every dime found you can buy 2 wheats

for every 50 cents found you can buy a buffalo nickle

for every dollar you find, you can buy a silver dime

for every 2.5 dollars you find you get a silver quarter

for every 5 dollars you get a silver half

for every 10 dollars you get a silver dollar.
