My hunting buddy called me with a great spot he got us permission to hunt that was so full of history that I was drooling. It was a great 3 min. hunt . All I will say is it takes all kinds of people.

So we went to the old stand by park for a good 4 hour hunt and we both walked away happy. Me with a great silver SLQ and 2 Indians and Joe with 3 silver and a silver ring. (the silver hogger!!)

After finding a SLQ I was very happy, when I seen a date on it before putting on my cheaters I was even happer. After a long rinsing in the bathroom sink I was speechless. My best SLQ so far. A 1917D type I, less the 2 million made. I can't decide what grade it is????

The 1905 Indian was only 2 maybe 3 inches deep. Bent coins sound different, I think that is why it was still there. My buddy found a 1943 quarter an inch deep Saturday also. Dig the all!!!

beautiful sql man! great finds!

Nice find. Her nipple is exposed. Usually you can't even make out the date. ;D

Beauty of a SLQ!! :icon_thumright:

Fabulous find! You have a full drapery line over the knee, shield is full, without the very light scratches from the dirt this coin I'd say is a strong XF -45!. One of the nicest type 1's I've seen come out of the ground. We've found some pretty crisp type 2's and some decent Type 1's and never a 17-d. Way to go.

IMO, probably very close to AU. Full head detail, complete wreath. But lacking breast feathers reverse. So could either be an unequal strike, or could be an average XF+ - AU coin. I am not expert enough to tell. But check out the slabbed 1917 T1 quarters on Ebay to compare with.

That is a very lovely lady! Congrats

A beauty indeed! Man I wish I could find one of those....

I laughed my a$$ off when you wrote 3 minute hunt!! Been there before with some of my buddies..
That stander is a beaut!!!

Nice! Beautiful coin, I regret not buying a blazing white slider for $100.00 at the big coin show in New Orleans 1979, that coin haunts me, so I'd love to find one as nice as yours. WTG

Wow. I found a sweet SLQ last year, but yours is absolutely as good as it gets. Congratulations.
Why dont they make coins beautiful like this any more?

That is an awesome Quarter.
Congrats
