Nice celts Molly! I think the women made those to knock the men in the heads with when they got out of line. :icon_pirat:

Yep celts, mauls and axes are the prehistoric versions of a rolling pin. Could the other forum be AF? I recall there was a Molly that used to visit that site. :blob6:

Nice Celts Molly. Since you don't mind, I'll put on some of my Celts and Axes. Most are personal finds, a few were auction buys.

Molly--Is the Notched the second Pic? How thick are they?

Dorkfish,,What is black on the top one, 4th pic? Do hoes and hand axes look alike? I realize ones for wood, other for dirt, but sometimes they look alike to me. Is it the type of stone? Thanks

If you mean the 4th picture in the second post then that is a shadow from where I set that Flint Celt on top in pic #3 on another rock to show the polished front edge.

Here are what the Hoes that we find look like. They are made out a material that is know as Ironstone around here. I'm sure of the correct name for the stone. They are usually kind of rough with very highly polished blade edges.

The Notched Axe is the last one, its a personal find from NC. There are a variety of sizes.

Steve, you have a fantastic collection of Celts, I'm yet to get a Grooved Celt, I don't think we're able to find them my area. I was amazed to come across that rough Axe, a few weeks back, but it's older than the polished Celts, so that's cool.

Glad you posted your finds/buys, Thankyou, fantastic. Hopefully others will post theirs too.

Molly.

Thankyou Fla-Gal.

Here are some of mine, but I had to buy them all. All are authentic examples though. Nice posted already by everyone!

Andy
