MY day

Today was supposed to be MY day! I just knew that today I would finally find a gold ring. I still haven't found one this year but I had a feeling...... that today..... was going to be ..... MY day! I couldn't sleep last night just thinking about it. I got up this morning all excited and "chomping at the bit" to get out there and find something good. I got to the beach early. Daybreak, there was another hunter already there but he was hunting the dry sand. I knew a lot of people had been to the beach the day before.... I spotted one blowup boat, a blowup "couch", a boogie board - broken and at least 4 plastic inner tubes spead around. Yep, it was going to be a good day. Oh yeah......

I got into the water and went merrily on my way. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Hmmmm where were all the hits I was anticipating?? Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. BAM! Ahhhhh crap.... it was just a heart-shaped earring stud. A cheap heart-shaped earring stud.

Well that was ok. It was a start. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. **sigh** BAM! a bottle cap, a bobby pin, a pulltab. **sigh** What's this? Another hunter entering the water..... NO NO NO NO NO.... it's ok he only stayed about 15 minutes and then he left. Not exciting enough I guess. Where was that ring hiding? I knew it was there. BAM! This doesn't "sound" like a gold ring but... what's this? IT IS A RING. Yeah, it was a ring! A RING! ahhhhh CRAP it's another cheap toe ring. This is the third one I've found recently.

I guess I was wrong. It wasn't MY day after all. Well no matter.... there's always tomorrow! Look out GOLD here I come!

Anticipation ... waiting for that Gold ring is one of the joys of detecting. Along the way, meanwhile, we get the coins and Silver and odd things. It's all FUN!

One of these days you'll get the double Gold.
