I was just telling my hunting bud that the best finds come from the least likely locations...well, that certainly was the case today!
Got onto a couple new sites with the first being a total bust. Second site looked like a trash pit but the second target out was the massive marked crotal bell so I had some hope. Pulled a lot of junk out then eyeballed a glint of silver in the dirt. I thought for sure it was a modern hood ornament or something like that so I was shocked and thrilled to pull this out of the ground.
Sterling silver cap badge! Looks like it dates to 1929 if I'm reading the hallmarks right. This field has been plowed many times so it's a wonder that the badge is intact...even has the hook on the back!
So pleased with this find...certainly my find of the year!
