My first 1600's coin!!!

In the past I have got a 1723 wood's Hibernia half penny, a King George II half penny, 1805 large cent, 1838 large cent, a key date 1861 New Brunswick Half Cent, and many colonial artifact, but never a 1600's coin... until now.

I went to a new colonial location and, two minutes in an ornate piece of cast iron, I thought, "okay, there were people in these woods at one point." Five minutes in I dug part of a colonial shoe buckle, that proves that this is a colonial location. 10 minutes in I dig a "blank" coin, or button. I did not see evidence of a shank, so I figured it was a coin. I thought it might be a 1800's foreign coin, or maybe a late 1700's colonial coin. After that I find a crude ax head, and a cant hook, than it got dark and I left.

After cleaning the coin, I see a bust, I look up some past monarchs of England, and their coins, no matches. I then look up some french monarchs, and their coins, there it is a match, a Young Head Louis XIV 1650's copper coin! The width matches, and the bust matches, and you can see some letters on my coin, that are in the corresponding place on the problem free Louis XIV coin photo that I got offline.

The date would be 1654, 1655, 1656, 1657

My actual find (Photos don't do justice)

Thanks for Looking,

The mintmark, on the reverse looks like a "D'', or a "L", I'm soaking the coin in pure olive oil for a week, or two.

Nice finding there ! I kinda bypassed the 1600s with my cash coin, lol, but most don't seem to think much of those here.

I went back there for 4 hours, and found nothing but a 1939 tractor Licence Plate, and a late 1700's/early 1800's horse shoe.
