My first Box of brinks nickles equals 6 war nickles

Decided to give the nickles a shot tonight. Found 1 1945D and 5 P's (1 1943,3 1944's 2 1945's) Also found some older ones and I kept them. 2 1940's, 3 1941's, 1 1946 and 1 1954. For some reason I found a ton of 1964's Was that a high mint year? Every roll had at least 1 1964 or more. Anyways, I re-used the plastic wrapper's and my fingers are sore. The last time I did a Brinks box I threw them away. By reusing the wrappers I can avoid the cost of the coin star machine. I will dump in the morning and try another box of something.

Nice finds! I've tried a nickel box just once and while I think there's some cool finds to be had (wartime, buffalos, maybe even a V), it's hard on the eyes and much more time-consuming than cents and dimes. And I only ended up getting one wartime nickel.

I'm sure Ill do another one at some point though, but it's a lot of work!

I agree.. did my first nickel box last week.. got one corroded 1927 buffalo nickel. It was a lot of work. Sore fingers and eyes. I can do a half dollar box straight through but I had to stop to take breaks with nickels.

That's a great box if you got 6 war nickels. 1964 nickels are a very common date. A lot of coins were made around that time as the mint switched from silver to clad.

Nice job on the war nickels. I like nickels more then any other denomination because of the fact that they are more work. You just can't edge search so the element of surprise is always there. Congrats.

Great score on the war nicks. Six is quite a score as I usually see averages around 1 per box.

Not until 1999 were numbers like that minted again.
