Hi everyone. My son bought me a new metal detector for my birthday and we tried it out in his back yard. He lives across the street from Amatol in Wharton state forest in the pine barrens of NJ. Anyway, my first find in his back yard was this buckle. It was approximately 6 inches down. To me it doesn't look very old but I wondered what it came from so I Google searched and lens searched through thousands of old buckles but never found one like it. Not sure if it came from a belt or boots or maybe a horses bridel but Im just hoping someone here would know. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks for your help.

ps, sorry if I posted this is the wrong place 😊

slot looks like it could be padlocked. Buckle for cinching and hasp for locking, maybe off a leather satchel .

Welcome to Tnet from Toronto Patty.
As the guys have already mentioned, this is relatively modern based on how the plating is coming away from the brass. I've never seen a design like this one before, but date-wise I'm thinking 1920s - 40s.

Hopefully someone here will recognize what it was made for... best of luck with the new detector.
Dave
