My First Flying Eagle

I figured since the odds of me finding a flying eagle penny in a roll are probably below one, I figured I would go to the only coin store in my town and see if they had any. Luckily they did and I got the cheapest one. It is from 1858. I just thought I might as well have one before no store has anymore. I wonder how many are still in circulation?

Nice. I did score an 1858 from a penny roll a couple weeks ago. So they are out there. Not many. I did post it on here. What did that run you? If you don't mind me asking.

I also got one from the regect slot on my stores coin machine and it was a 1858 too but in bad shape but i will keep happy hunting Ron

The same thing happened to me searching quarters, I bought some silver quarters and then the next day I found my first silver quarter CRHing.

Well, its just one more free silver quarter then!

I got one at a coin show last month. The dealer wanted $40 for it, but he took my trade of (5) 40% beat up kennedy halves for it. Silver was at about $48 at the time. So in reality the Flying Eagle Cent in Fine grade only cost me $2.50. By the way...they are rare coins.

Thank you. I just got rejuvenated on wanting to hunt pennies. Had gotten tired of them and have concentrated on dimes for a good while now. The flying eagle is a must find. Wish me luck please, the grand kids would love to have one. Buying one is cool and will if I must, but finding one would be a rush.

At it with cents for 4 years and 800,000 hand searched. So far no Flying Eagles, but I have found 8 Indian Head cents. Good luck in your search.
