Primary Interest:
Relic Hunting
We often go detecting late afternoon in the hot Summer and that's just what we did yesterday afternoon. We have permission to hunt two different tear down sites in Nashville, along the battlefield lines and have been watching the properties and sure enough, both houses were down by the end of the afternoon. We headed to one that had a huge back yard and ll I turned up was a small rectangular buckle,a few clad coins so we decided to move on to the other site just for a few swings of our coils before pitch black dark. The mister took the back yard and I the front and the first swing of my coil yielded a stupid iron pipe. I decided to try softer looking dirt and got a really good hit but couldn't see what I was digging and got my LED light that goes on my head. I knew that the mister was ready to go soon but that sound the target made was just to sweet to pass up and not dig. Whatever 'it" was had small roots on top so I tried to gauge where I could pop up whatever it was with my small digger. Out pops a US breastplate! The lead backing was the side showing but I immediately knew what it was before I turned it over. The irony is that my husband dug one last week, his first also. Mine has better details but the iron hooks that were there leached out and it has a few red stains on it. Needless to say we are going back today for more goodies.

That a great find.

Congrats Lady.... Great job. I hope you can match this find today also. Sounds like you and the Mr. and dead even now. Best wishes to both of you.... Brad

Awesome find CG! Congrats on such a significant find and your first!!!
The detail is nice on it! The bend just gives it character, a personality!

Looks like you and the Mr. Are head to head!

GO CG GO!!!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!!

Thanks for all the sweet remarks friends, just as I was thinking about giving up(not really) I should post a picture of both of our finds, side by side in unison(insert hearts here) We were really both surprised though that there wasn't even a bullet to be found in that little yard.

A very good find indeed...congratulations.
Digging ones first plate is something you'll never forget.
It's a nice one too..not much ground action on the face..

Congratulations…….awesome find and thank you for sharing…...

Really great find!!! Good thing you are a determined girl otherwise that could have ended up in someone else's pocket!

Thanks Johnny. Steve's isn't as detailed as mine but mine has bleed through from the iron but it's still pretty to me. Oh BTW,that thing I was carrying around at the meeting? In the trash, haha!

Congrats on a super quality find. I know that one will get you going back to that site. Good luck!

Here is the dynamic duo,his on the left and mine on the right.
