My first GPAA group hunt

Going on my very first GPAA group hunt this weekend (July 12-14) with the Iowa Chapter at a campground just south of Oskaloosa, yes I said Iowa lol. I'm not quite sure what to expect but hoping for some good gold.... If anyone has seen my post with pics in the gold panning section then you know I am at least capable of finding decent gold.....I will post my results if any upon return Sunday night or Monday morning....wish me luck.

The magazine alone is worth the price. I look forward to the stories and technical articles. The club outings appear to be a great place to learn new tricks from old pros. The real TREASURE is to be found in the new friends you discover and the PAN full of memories you take home with you! Join up and may every pan have gold for you!

Tweeta - first attend some meetings of a local chapter...that's free! The GPAA claims here in CO are pretty poor so the clubs often go elsewhere. Then the magazine is the only real benefit...hmmm. On the other hand, if you will be in California, it can be a great deal. My point is just that the friends are free, no fee for that yet!

Do so if you get the chance. The friends you'll make are well worth it and if you're in a state with a lot of claims it's even better. Keep in mind that some states don't have any club claims in them though so you may want to weight that in as well.
