My First MONSTER Halves Box! (Updated W/ Pics)

I haven't posted in quite some time, but after today's finds, I figured I probably should. :hello2:

Well, I went and picked up 2 boxes of halves on the way home from school yesterday. I decided to go ahead and open up one of them so I could dump it at the bank next door, and as I though, it was a skunk (was currently on a 10 box skunk streak). So I just brought the other box home and didn't even bother opening it until this morning because I figured it would be skunky as well...boy was I wrong.

I opened up the box and just for fun, I always check for enders, which I found 6 in the box! So, I started cracking open the rolls and 2-3 silvers were popping out of rolls. Boy was I excited! :laughing7:

I even told my mom and dad to open some up and they had a thrill picking out the multiple silvers in the rolls. Overall, I ended up with 30x 40%'s and 10x 90%'s (including a Franklin proof). Now only if I could have a box like that EVERY time. ::)

P.S. Is anyone looking to buy copper pennies? I have a 68 pound bag ($100 FV) that I see selling on feebay for $160, but I've never used it before, nor do I plan to.

P.P.S I had to take the pictures with my smartphone because my sisters camera was nowhere to be found, so no macro close-ups.

That's a great way to finish off a 10 box skunk streak. Maybe this will be the start of a silver streak for you.

Btw, this sort of reminds me when I got 2 crw's from a bank the Friday before Halloween (10-28) and I left them in my car unsearched all weekend thinking that they were probably just all clads and I didn't bother to search them till I got to my dump bank this last Monday (Halloween) and was I suprised to find 11 x 90%'s and 1 x 40% from those 2 rolls - what a treat!

I still haven't found a 90%er from a box yet and I'd sure love to find a box like yours Cody. Keep it goin'. :thumbsup:

Haha, yeah that's what someone else suggested when I posted about it - someone asked if I grow silver in my car. I still have $75 in unsearched "big dollar coins" I got from that dump bank on Monday so who knows. If I find any silver dollars in those coins then I may start to wonder about it myself.

Nice find!

I've found several Franklin proofs and 1964 Kennedy proofs over the years...they are a nice surprise to pop out of a box. They really jump out at you with the look of the edge in the roll...only other white stripes I've seen like them in a roll are modern 90% proofs or commemoratives. Were the edges on the reeding still very sharp?

Yes, very sharp and it has a nice thick rim.

It's surely a proof. The camera isn't the best but it has a mirror like finish and it's far thicker than my other Franklins.

I don't know what possesses someone to roll proof coins up and trade them in for paper. I will never understand it. I'm glad you're back btw, I was starting to get concernced that something had happened to you. :thumbsup:
