My first post and a puzzle of a find

Hi Folks - pretty excited to be here and have just started detecting,
Was out today and found this - it is not rusted so not iron and the top can screw off. Any help identifying this is appreciated.

Didn’t they used to make something like this for cap gun caps? You put caps in it and throw the nose to the ground.

Yes but they were much smaller, made of mostly plastic and cheap metal and weighed probably a tenth of what the Mortar tail fins weigh.
