I'm fairly new at this and have been amazed that some of you find proof coins; I had not seen a proof coin in circulation until today. Stopped by another branch of my bank today and asked if they had any halves. The teller did have 3 Kennedy half dollars in a drawer ... one was a 1970S proof!

70? that sucker is a SILVER PROOF - I have found 50 proofs - no silver proofs yet.

Nice find! I have only found 1 silver proof before (it happened just like your find, one of a few in a teller's tray) except mine was a 1968-S!

Congrats!

I didn't think about it being silver, thanks for pointing that out! 1970 is a year I never expected to see outside of a mint or proof set.

Gravity, that is a great beginner find. The 1970 halves are quite elusive.
