Went out again with Bilt46 to the woods for a 6hr hunt lookin for some silvers and was rewarded for my efforts BIGTIME!!!! I got a bouncy signal that went from quarter to iron so I quickly dug my plug and at 6 inches out pops this bad boy!!! When I seen the date and the mint mark I knew it was a great find!!! Happy hunting everyone!!!! :icon_pirat:

Nice! Where do you get so much free time to detect? Lol. Only one SLQ found out this way and it was a no date. Hopefully I can find one like that someday!

Re: My first SLQ for 2010 is a high grade KEY DATE!!!!

Congratulations on finding one of the nicest dug SLQ's I've ever seen (looks like she's an easy AU50):headbang:

I've dug two SLQ's in the past 8 months (one was an honest Abe 11" deep too), and both were dateless :tongue3:

Can you tell me what is significant about the woods area your searching (ie - hunting camps, scout camps, picnic areas, or ?) ?

I've been doing research out here for new hunting sites and tomorrow will be spending the day in the library glued to a microfiche machine looking at 1800's newspapers in hopes of finding new places to hunt, we'll see how it goes.

Congrats again, that's the stuff I dream of finding and the SLQ is one of the most beautiful US silvers made IMHO.

Beautiful SLQ, Fiend!!

Probably the nicest one you will ever dig! :headbang:

Did you get that dig on video?
I don't think the '24D is considered a key date, since there were over 3 million minted, but the grade is certainly as good as one could hope for a dug coin.

The woods hunting has been so good to you....heck, who needs those old, worked out Chicago parks when you're finding barbers at 2 inches(I saw your other post), huh? :laughing9:
Major Congrats!!

Great find my friend! I collect that series and that is a solid XF at the very minimum, putting it at about $200. I've been fortunate enough to find 14 of them, only 2 without a date, but none as nice as yours.

Congratulations and next time, make it a 1923-S in that grade!

:icon_thumright: That is one beautiful dug SLQ, it is amasing how sometimes you find silver that looks as if it were dropped yesterday. Beautiful piece of silver, my hats of to you :icon_thumleft:

Thank you everybody, when I first got the signal I didn't really think anything of it. I dig almost all the iffy signals that I come accross and BAM I was nearly knock on my keaster when I seen what I got!!! :laughing9:

That is definitely the nicest condition I have seen in over 30 years swinging a detector. Found quite a few but none reaching that condition. Best I can muster is a common date VF.

The SLQ has to be one of the least found 20th century coins. Just guessing that I have found less than 2 dozen (not counting comp. hunts).

Many years ago at a hunt a guy was selling "his" finds. Said everything in the case was found last week. He had over half a roll of SLQ's. I ask him about them and he said he found them last week too and all individually! I had a lucky streak he said! Yea right. And I apparently have a big stupid sign on my forehead. (of course my wife would probably agree with that)
