I had to go to the UK on business and I managed to get 2 glorious hours of detecting on a field next to a 12th Century church. What a thrill for this Yank! I found 4 coppers (one I believe to be a KG1 farthing, another a KGIII half penny). Jury is still out on the other two. Also found a trade weight (trying to ID) and a musket ball. Below are pics.

Short visit to Corfe Castle

12th Century Church

Field I detected on

A British Whatzit

Musket ball

Trade weight - from this direction I see a crown; from another I see a squirrel

Trade weight - obverse

I think I see a left facing bust on this! 21mm - 2.7g / 42 grain

This is the bust I'm seeing

Possible a KGI 1717/1719 farthing - 20.5 mm - 2.3g / 36 grain. It's light but beat up

- Measures 27.25mm - 6.2g / 96 grain.

Possibly a KGIII Half Penny
