1943 p. Dug at a home built abt 1900. Got dark, didn't get to finish the yard. Homeowner says can come back soon and finish. Can't wait.

WKRP,
I see you use a White's detector, if it has a VDI display what did it ring in at on the scale if you don't mind me asking....just curious. Ive played with some war nickels in a planted MD garden but haven't found one on a hunt. Thanks

Troop, I use the coinmaster. No VDI. it rang in as solid nickel signal, no bouncing around at all.

Great find..thats a good sign for more silver in that yard..good luck !

Nice find wkrp43. Thanks for sharing...

I found my first war nickel in the middle of a big corn field. I hunted for hours, the ground was so clean I had to keep checking my detector to make sure it was working.... I got one +19 hit at three inches. The one I dug was a P also.....Great find

in abt an hour or two, I am heading out to start my first field. did a 15 min test run the other day. kept looking at mine also to see if it was on. the owner says it is virgin ground as far as MDing. they have done some arrowhead hunting though, with some success.

Good luck with your field hunt. They still haven't cut the corn here yet. Congrats on the war nickel. I'd like to find one!

War nickels have been a tough find for me , I've only found one in about nine years detecting .

In yards I usually find at least 1 war nickel usually

I can't even remember how long it's been since I dug my last war nickel, but I'm going to guess it's been at least 20 years
