Hi folks!
Haven't been on for small while so I thought I'd better update you all on a few nice Silver uMax finds w/stock coil.
My patience paid off and yesterday I finally got permission to hunt one of the oldest houses in Banning, built in 1892. I then learned the house had been moved to its present location in 1907. But that's okay, as I knew it would sitll produce some old coinage...and I was right.
I started off on the left side of the front yard, a small section of about 15x15 feet, working slowly and meticulously and with my disc set between iron and foil. I first nailed about 7 wheats (dropped one in the grass so I will have to get it next time), dated 1920, 1942, 1945, 1946, 1951, and 1953. These are not pictured. I then struck two buffalo nickels, a 1930 and a no dater. I was getting excited and knew I was gonna hit silver. Next coin, sure enough, was a 1937 Merc! Whahoo!
I then started on the right side of the yard, which also extends into a side yard, all of which was about three and a half times the size of the left side of the yard. After an hour and a half I was dumbstruck. Absolutely nothing but a few foil scraps and couple junk items. How strange is that? I still have the back yard area, and then an extended back yard area, and then a huge side yard on the left side of the house to detect, so I suppose there's still a lot of hope for more silver to come out of that place.
On another note, last week I went to Riverside and found a couple silver rosies, dated 1955 and 1956. I found one in an old park along with the old chinese coin, and the other in an easement along with a few wheaties. I also found a very large crucifix that doubled as a whistle! Too bad it's not silver, though. I also found a neat 100 year memorial coin for Seventh Day Adventist camps, dated 1968.
And previous to this I spent a few days in Visalia, Ca to attend some meetings, and in my spare time hit an old park and an easement. I came out with two silver rings, one with abalone shell as the inlay!
Not a bad week and a half, I'd say. I'm scheduled to go back to the 1892 house on Thursday, and will keep you informed on any more good finds.

It's nice to at least be hitting silver on a regular basis.
Lot's of fantastic keepers!
I had a site a couple of weeks ago that I spent most all day hunting and only a couple of wheats to show for it. Found out that afternoon that fill had been added. :P
