Hi Everyone:

I hope you had a fantastic weekend of metal detecting. We were out for at least 7 hours at 3 different locations today. The last place we landed was a very old home. We were just driving around looking for something old. We pulled in the driveway and met, Ray. A sweetheart of a guy who gladly gave us permission to detect. He claimed the house was 200 years old...not so sure it was that old but it was definitely a century plus.

I went to the back of the house and found my first Barber dime (1902) right in between two Buckeye trees. I totally thought it was a seated liberty because I could only see the back. I didn't want to scrape the front of the coin until I could soak it in some warm soapy water. Either way... so thrilled. It's the oldest coin I have ever found. I have only been detecting since June...so I am super happy!!

Have a great week and look forward to reading all the other posts!! 8-)

PS: Ray's getting some homemade goodies next trip!!! :smileinbox:

Very nice first Barber. Them buckeye trees give off good luck.

Congrats on the Barber, looks like good condition too! That's a good idea paying back permission with a batch of tasties...lucky Ray.

peace,
