Went out to a local park were I found a 1936 buff last summer. Started off with some clad and two nickels from the 60s. Decided to check out an old pond that I know has been hit pretty hard for years as it was a picnic area for many years. Got a signal that was either a nickel or as usual a pull tab and at about 5 inches found this 100 year old beauty! Today is the first day of retirement for me and this really made it special. I'm pretty new to metal detecting but I'm hooked bad. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424312658.241755.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424312675.326432.webp

Twig LVII, I rate your coin VF-20 (slight pitting) and the RETAIL price would be about $155. It has a comparitively low mintage among Buffalo nickels of only 1.5 million minted. Among dealers, a dealer would pay approx. $125 for it from another dealer. Among private people, it might sell for anywhere from $90 to $150.

I never get tired of buffalos. One of my all time favorite coins. Nice key date find!

Congrats on the retirement AND the nickel, it's in great shape8-)

Thank you Goose-0 and everyone else for comments and info !

Current value for "Good" condition is $49.00............Nice find!
Details are better than that, but because of environmental damage it wouldn't grade any better than that..........

JMHO! Iowa Dale

Thank you for sharing your hunt and those pictures with this snowbound northern boy
