Went out to a local park were I found a 1936 buff last summer. Started off with some clad and two nickels from the 60s. Decided to check out an old pond that I know has been hit pretty hard for years as it was a picnic area for many years. Got a signal that was either a nickel or as usual a pull tab and at about 5 inches found this 100 year old beauty! Today is the first day of retirement for me and this really made it special. I'm pretty new to metal detecting but I'm hooked bad. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424312658.241755.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424312675.326432.webp

Thanks. Idea of worth ?

Your Five Cent Piece ....Red Book 1991 sorry that`s the only one i got .
Good= Legends and date readable. Horn wore off $10.00
VG-8= Half horn shows $12.00
F = three quarters of horn shows. Obv. rim intact $20.00
Very Fine= Full horn shows.Indian`s cheekbone worn $55.00
EF=full horn.slight ware on Indian`s hair ribbon $100.00
I`m no expert so get a new "Red Book" and look it up then go to a coin shop and ask the guy there ....what he thinks ...armed with your five cent piece, new book and knowledge.....you will have environmental damage to your coin....so the value will be lowered.

I am with Cjon.... jealous of the nickel, but really jealous that you are retired! Congrats on NOT having job... and that nice buff too! GL&HH.

Nice buffalo. I haven't found one that old yet

It looks like it would make a VF grade on details - but the surfaces look to have some anomalies from being in the ground
my "Red Book " of U.S. coins 2013 - lists VF at $115.

great looking buff with the date, a plus

Looks great to me, congrats on a beutiful find !!! HAPPY HUNTING and welcome to TNET.
