Hey Ya'll. :hello2:

Havent posted in awhile..But thought I would post this, since its my Second oldest coin found so far. Went out with a buddie of mine today to an old piece of property that had a old home on it at one time.. Pretty cool place, had the old rock chinmey still there...Well.. didnt find many coins there, he found a wheatie, and found alot of old iron pieces but we ended up leaving and heading out searching for a place in this town. Ended up at this park that seemed old but wasnt sure. We were there about 15 minutes when i got a shallow quarter signal..Wasnt expecting much at all since it was only about 2 inches deep....Popped out the plug..and saw that Beautiful Rim :icon_thumleft: I ran over to my buddie with the plug and said "You think thats Silver?"..When I pulled it out I was happy because I knew it wasnt a Washington..I Rinsed it off and saw the "1898" .. Freakin AWESOME!!..This is my second oldest Coin Ive ever found..Ironically my top "3" oldest coins found are all Barber Quarters :dontknow:

But Im on Cloud 9..This was number 6 for the year and I'm ready for some more!!!

Oh and also..I never rubbed this coin at all..When I rinse it, it had scraches on the front...I guess this things are sensitive just picking them up

Thanks for all the comments.. I think the picture makes it look worse :dontknow: But I'm happy

And TejasDigger... When I find that huge chunk of gold..then you can be jealous

Who wants gold??? I dig all those holes looking for pull tabs, can slaw and clad change. :laughing7:

Guess you're right...its all adds up in the end :laughing9: :laughing9:

Just the normal freezing of the soil and the thawing of the soil will cause these scratches . I have found dents in objects from the ice swelling up and pressing small rocks into the item and make the marks . So not all of these marks on the coins and things are from user rubbing on them or cleaning the item. It takes more force to mark a coin, most coins that is , than you would think.

Also if the coin is not to far down in the ground then you get the soil working on the target by lawn mowers and the sort going over the item as it sets in the earth for weeks to years at a time.

SWEET :hello2: a BARBER is always a good find.
