I started the day with low humidity so I got dressed and after 26 hunts with nothing I decided to door knock for the first time. When you’re on a ledge and have nothing to lose you jump. The first was a turndown, the second was a turndown but I realized I was still alive. Then I got a tip from a guy who said he owned so property that had a Indian traded post that never been detected and although he doesn’t metal detect he’s found tons of arrowheads and there where shell mounds and he liked my filthy MEGA hat so I could have at it. So off I went but the brush was to thick and the horseflies where attacking, so I decided to go back prepared it also next to a huge Lake Ponchatrain. So I retreated and went to a small area that I haven’t found anything in a year but it a mile from my house. Horrible signal but it was deep with a very occasional 26/27 showing but just one way. There she was 1907 O Barber Dime!!! Never give up. IMG_2604.webpIMG_2605.webpIMG_2606.webpIMG_0012.webpIMG_0012.webp

And then my truck broke down in my driveway spewing fluid all over the place. IT DON’T STOP!!! Lol

But I got my Barber Dime :-)

That dime is a beauty! Isn’t it interesting that you found that in a spot you’ve probably been all over, but hadn’t visited in a year? I’ve had the same thing happen. I’ve been told that objects move, in the ground. Maybe they do!

I visit it st least once a week to to swing a hour or two. It’s right by my house. It’s next to a sandy river so the green spot it’s over a foot deep of sand basically from when the river overflows. The red circle is a 30x20 spot that has soil because the water and sand can’t get there. I’ve found 2 reales the in one plug, my only reale spill 6 months ago, but haven’t found anything there since and nothing 6 months before that. Not a big spot at all. I’ve slowed down my swing and really concentrate on iffy signals with at least some occasional high, but mostly sound and depth. IMG_1271.webpIMG_1272.webpIMG_1269.webpIMG_1270.webpIMG_2611.webp

Glad your back on your game Truth. I like that O mint mark also, (I'm sure they are common in your area, but not so much in mine). I like the hat also !

There's nothing worse than being in a drought...It shakes your confidence, and makes you question everything you do.
But you BEAT THE Drought! And you beat it with style...that Barber dime is very nice! Congratulations!!!!

Finding silver is always a nice feeling. You got a beauty. Congrats

Around my town you’re a shoe in it’s MAGA country and they see it’s proudly worn everyday. Not to mention if they say no because of my hat I have no problem moving on. But like I say I get compliments at least once a day from someone. View attachment 1717760

Looks like wearing a MAGA hat in your area didn't hurt you getting permission, but, maybe if you wore a shirt you might get more yeses......:laughing7:

Congrats on breaking your drought. Funny, the last Barber dime I found about a month ago was also 1907-O.

Thanks Joe-Dirt looking forward to water hunting that Indian Trading Post spot.
That sounds like a good time!! Don’t forget to pack a little something fer gators!!

Congrats, that’s a nice looking Barber!

You are wrong though.... You were never in a drought, it was just the calm before the coming storm :occasion14:

Silvermonkey you’re absolutely right you think you don’t know how to detect anymore. Thank you for the compliment.

Squirrel I had to mentally battle myself every time not to just leave after 30 mins in this heat. It’s a mental war not to give up when you’re never finding anything anymore.

Interesting thing is I’ve never went that ling without finding anything, but as soon as you see that silver it’s like seeing water in a dessert. So refreshing.

Nah... I’ve been in that region a couple of times. They might be put off if you had a shirt on..
Now your drought is over, let’s open the floodgates. Good hit man.
