Metal Detecting
I started the day with low humidity so I got dressed and after 26 hunts with nothing I decided to door knock for the first time. When you’re on a ledge and have nothing to lose you jump. The first was a turndown, the second was a turndown but I realized I was still alive. Then I got a tip from a guy who said he owned so property that had a Indian traded post that never been detected and although he doesn’t metal detect he’s found tons of arrowheads and there where shell mounds and he liked my filthy MEGA hat so I could have at it. So off I went but the brush was to thick and the horseflies where attacking, so I decided to go back prepared it also next to a huge Lake Ponchatrain. So I retreated and went to a small area that I haven’t found anything in a year but it a mile from my house. Horrible signal but it was deep with a very occasional 26/27 showing but just one way. There she was 1907 O Barber Dime!!! Never give up. IMG_2604.webpIMG_2605.webpIMG_2606.webpIMG_0012.webpIMG_0012.webp

And then my truck broke down in my driveway spewing fluid all over the place. IT DON’T STOP!!! Lol

But I got my Barber Dime :-)

Seriously Mods,

What gives?? I've seen people get banned or at least timeouts for being way less political than this. Are you gonna at least issue a warning or something?? I've been warned and I never started any of it!! All I do is reply with alternative viewpoints.

And Claire,

While I agree with your sentiments, I disagree with your approach. Although logic sometimes fails (some people have a hard time following a logical train of thought), it does sometimes work and is the approach that I'm sticking with, when attempting to convince others that their views are not grounded in facts. Truth was only displaying an offensive T-shirt which is his 1st Amendment right. I fully support his 1st Amendment right to free speech and I'm often glad when people do because it lets me know if or how I should interact with them. I also support our 2nd Amendment rights and am a gun owner with a lifetime permit to carry a concealed weapon. However, if I see a guy wearing that shirt and displaying a sticker like that, I know that he's ignorant about some issues and probably gets ripped off at the flea market fairly often. The sticker is just stupid. It's like saying "Shoot Litterbugs" and ignores the whole trial by jury of our peers, et al. so I'm going to ignore that and stick with the T-shirt. (Author's note: Litterbugs suck.)

Truth thinks that he's showing support for our 2nd Amendment right to bear arms with that shirt, but he's misguided at best. That shirt is meant to be funny by taking a play on the "Black Lives Matter" Movement and (in an extremely unoriginal way) spinning it to say "Black Guns Matter". Hilarious (that's sarcasm). The Black Lives Matter Movement aims to shine a light on the fact that innocent black and minority Americans are being disproportionately killed by law enforcement and other citizens. It also attempts to shine a light on the fact that many cases that are clearly murder are never pursued through the courts and that when that some are, justice is not rendered. These are facts and they're stains upon our great nation that need to be addressed. Whether our 2nd Amendment rights are under attack is another debate. Making a statement about 2nd Amendment rights should not attempt to belittle the argument that "Black Lives Matter" supporters are making, as was done with Truth's T-shirt, because an interpretation of that shirt that one could draw is that "black lives don't matter, but guns do, so quit your whining, even though your sons, fathers, friends, cousins, etc. are being murdered on a daily basis."

I'm not going to do your homework for you again Truth but if you are actually seeking truth, please start by examining the cases of Philando Castile (watch the video that his girlfriend took of his murder), Trayvon Martin (who was the one with the right to stand his ground... G. Zimmerman was the aggressor), Anthony Lamar Smith, Stephon Clark, etc. Those are just a few of the cases... the list goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on... Once you begin to understand that truth, then perhaps you can understand why your shirt is offensive.

I'm not even going to say anything about the MAGA and Trump stuff so that I don't get into trouble, even though this administration has separated innocent children from their parents who were LEGALLY seeking asylum. This administration has literally ripped innocent children from their innocent parents' arms and then locked those children in cages. Some of those children will be traumatized for life. Please tell me how you can justify that as a Christian or even as a human being.

Kantuck

First off don’t be “that guy”. “Hey moderators what gives are you going to put him in time out”

Second my T-shirt is “offensive to her and obviously you”....and so what? The names you mentioned were thugs not children. You where only shown his baby picture we saw the real pictures IMG_2633.webp one more for go measure IMG_2634.webp

Third yes it a play on words for BLM that racist terrorist organization paid by Soros.

Fourth my bumper sticker is a joke sticker but has a strong meaning behind it. My wife lost 2 nephews this year alone and I myself have one with one foot in the ground, so I am who I am. Not to mention if you’re comparing a herion dealer to a litterbug you’re 100% idiot.

Fifth don’t tell Clair how to speak to me then underhandedly start throwing all your jabs like a coward. She can what she what’s to say anyway she what’s to say it...it doesn’t bother me. It’s cowards like you that bother me.

Sixth “so quit your whining, even though your sons, fathers, friends, cousins, etc. are being murdered on a daily basis.” No one in my family’s been murdered that’s happening in the democrat run sanctuary city New Orleans which I moved away from so I wouldn’t have to use a firearm. It’s blacks killing blacks every day and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on... Once you begin to understand that Mr. Kantuckit that innocent children are also getting caught in crossfire then maybe you’ll start caring about that than a t-shirt and bumper stickers.

P.S. Where you the kid that tattled to the teachers and shined their apples?

"Truth",

I never said asked the moderators to put you in a timeout. I just said that I've seen people banned for less political statements than what was posted above and suggested a warning.

I'll try to improve my manner of writing so that you can, perhaps, understand my posts better.

First, I'll be the best person that I can.

Second, you say that they're thugs. Whatever, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. However, when the folks that I mentioned were killed by police officers (and a wannabe in the case of GZ), they were not putting the officers' lives at risk. In fact, Philando Castile told the officer that he was legally carrying. The officer asked him for identification. When Philando complied with the officer's request, he was shot. How would you feel if that was someone close to you (e.g. a brother, cousin, father, friend)?

Third, there are some undesirable characters in many organizations, including BLM. So what?

Fourth, I wasn't comparing a heroin dealer to a litterbug. I was making a point that we have laws in this country to help prevent people from killing each other when the actions of one are despised by others. Whether I'm 100% idiot is still to be determined. I'm sorry to hear about your family's substance abuse problems. I hope that they receive treatment.

Fifth, I never told Claire how to speak to you. I only said that I agreed with her sentiments but disagreed with her approach. Afterwards, I openly gave my opinions as to why I thought that your sticker was stupid and that your shirt was offensive. I was never underhanded or cowardly. I would think that a coward would sit silently by while actions that they disagree with are occurring, rather than speaking up or taking action. You can call me all the names that you like though.

Sixth, I wasn't saying that YOUR sons, fathers, friends, cousins, etc. were being murdered. I was saying that your shirt could be interpreted to imply that BLM supporters should stop their whining even when THEIR sons, fathers, friends, cousins, etc. are being murdered on a daily basis.

Lastly, no. I did not tattle on schoolmates or shine my teachers' apples. I do have a great respect for the majority of teachers however. Their jobs are underpaid and underappreciated and they're performing an incredible service to society. Thank you to all of the teachers out there!!

The reason I said what I did is because I strongly disagree with your politics just as you disagree with mine. If I wanted to hear everyone's political views, I'd join as a Charter Member and jump into the fray in whatever political forum exists there. I don't want to do that because for me, TNet is supposed to be an apolitical place where I can relax, learn, share information, and get away from politics and such for a while. You'd probably get a little upset as well if I, or others, started breaking the rules and posting all kinds of liberal sentiments on here. We'll probably never be friends, but we don't have to be enemies either. We probably have a lot more in common than you think and could actually learn a lot from each other, if we're able to keep open minds. I'm just asking that you, and everyone else abide by the rules.

Nice dime by the way...

Truth, first thing is big congrats on breaking the silver slump, and did it with a beauty, excellent save. second is this was a great 3 page thread which I read every comment and enjoyed, really sorry it got spoiled by a couple that can't accept reality and spread hatred based on falsehood. You are the true American and I would stand by your side anytime.

I apologize for the name calling, reacted out of anger, but there is no reason to bring up your political idiology on this forum, as you well know it is a very polarizing issue. I’m not sure what makes you a “ true American”, but there are many, many people who love this country who do not support Trump or the NRA. That being said, you do seem to be a”great metal detectorer”

I agree we’re on opposite sides of the political spectrum and the post just morphed into getting political. You’re right I have plenty of opportunity to chew those libs up with facts which they love to ignore. This is about OUR love for history and detecting and I agree that’s where it should be kept. God Bless you and yours with good health and prosperity [emoji1317]

P.S. I’m sure we have tons in common:)

Claire no worries we have thick skin where I’m from, but I totally agree with you on the subject of this forum. It was intended to go political it just went that way and I absolutely love our President and our country and someone will have to go through me to take it away and shred the rights of my Constitution. I consider us metal detecting friends and I’ll be sure to always keep it there. Sorry if I stepped on any toes. [emoji1317]
