today detecting at the park started off slow. it took about a hour to find my first silver of the day. it was a heavily worn 1936 Washington quarter. seeing how long it took to find it i decided to try a different area of the park. it was a small hill that sloped down into a small pond. i knew that there had to be something there. i started detecting, i found a few wheats from the teens and twenties but nothing that exciting. then i walked down the hill a few feet i got a signal going between coin and jewelry (i was using a whites beach hunter ID it only reads out coin, jewelry, and iron). but i decided to dig it thinking that it might be a deep IH penny. i was surprised to see that it was a New Jersey copper, the first colonial coin that i have ever found! needless to say i was very happy and ran down to the lake to clean it off. after i got my self together i went back to detecting. i found a few more old wheats and got another deep signal it turned out to be a 1892 barber dime. it was really worn but still a good find. the next deep signal that i got turned out to be a 1902 barber dime it really good condition i posted some close up pictures of it. after that i cleaned out that little area of all the signals. i went around the park for a little only finding one more merk and a silver Washington. ill throw up some pics now and ill get back later with the clad and wheat break down. im going back out detecting to another old park now
