My son wants to know...What is it? Lead? Metallic composition?

My son (age 12) found this a few days ago and he was wondering what it could be. He found it with his Ace 250 and it came up on the screen as a constant penny signal. I broke a small edge of it off (pic #3) and you can see how "silverish" it looks in the middle. He is anxiously waiting on your replies (checking this page every few minutes :headbang: )

Thanks!

Is it heavy enough to be Lead?
If it is quite light, then it's possibly a melted Aluminum can. A common find where you might get a campfire, eg. beach or picnic spot.

If it's heavy , maybe it was spilled while some early settler was making lead musket balls ?

well the 250 "penny" icon is nornally modern "zinc" cents and zinc containing indain head cents --so zinc is a good guess -- lead is another good guess --spilled making bullets -- pewter is also a fair guess --many things were made of it long ago --it was a mixture of metals --mostly lead and tin

lead tends to be soft and bends easily -- pewter less soft (since it a mixture its harder less soft)--melted aluminum is brittle and snaps often .
