My son got his first deer this fall. I told him he may hunt the rest of his life and not get another one like it.

Can still remember bagging my first cottontail at age 6...and at that age, it was ever again as big as that buck...great memories but no pictures...

Thanks, You can carry a rifle or shot gun in our zone. I've hunted the regular gun deer season a few times with a muzzle loader just for the heck of it. I think we'll try making a batch of jerky out of some of it.

Sidevalve45--nice buck! Did he just put the old man in the shade? And yeah, he may have to go some to top that one, but he just might one day! ( I believe hunting is a vital part of a good wildlife management program.)

I have hunted almost 40 years, never have harvested a monster buck like that.

that's a revelation to me. I didn't think WI had any rifle zones left for years. What did your boy get his with?
Little story for you if you got the time. Years ago my brother took a friend's son deer hunting on a Army base in Sparta, WI. The boy could only hunt 1 day. My brother shot a buck but they tagged it with the boys tag because my brother could hunt again. Long story short; after telling everyone that the boy shot the deer, the boy's Dad, as proud as he was, decided to surprise his son and had it mounted. I don't think the REAL story has ever come out since.

Great buck. Not only will he eat good. He will look great on the wall. That is a memory he will never forget.
