So today we went to our mutual best friends house, not a old house built in 1980.
many times in the past Lil mike, expressed interest in detecting, and since we keep our detectors in the car plus a backup well that set the stage for an all out assault upon mikes yard.

Man we had a blast! 3 hours detecting, while we found only clad as expected, the total lack of junk in the turf was quite heavenly! my wife who last year I finally got her into my hobby, had about 5 hours total on her coinmaster pro..which she nows wants something with more depth capability.
Well I hear her start yelling and go running into the back yard ( thinking negative ) that maybe she fell..she has MS so balance is a issue, well when I seen that smile and her bouncing around I knew it had to be a first find moment, wish I could have filmed that. :notworthy:

She had found her first ring! quite a beautiful small sterling ring which also fits...lol lucky!
So it was a great day! great company, great time!
found like 2.40$ in clad, not bad for just goofing off and Lil mike learning.
Also think I may have found a iron meteorite! ground a window in it, looks right, but will have to do the home tests. jumps onto a rare earth magnet so hard its hard to pull it off..the ring is on it in the pics.

possible meteorite, my tablet does not do very good close ups, and I didn't grind a window properly in a rush, but I'll find out!

taken almost 18 years ago on our wedding day.

Sounds like you had a great time! Good time with wife and friend. Sure don't get much better than that eh? HH mister!

Cool finds! Thanks for sharing.

That's awesome!!!! Good on her for that ring!!! Hopefully she wears it and smiles every time she sees it. That "meteorite" is really cool, I'm curious to see what it turns out to be!!!

Great Day..

Nice Ring & "money is money"

Those Meteorites are hard to Id , hope it is one.

Congratz on 18 years of marriage also, wish my wife cared about Detecting ' We would def, get along better' lol

Davers

Nice ring on the possible meteorite is it magnetic and small ones should read like very low below foil like nail or below unless its a big rock. Also some meteorites (higher nickel percentage) do not display the Widd pattern after acid etch, a nickel test often will prove or disprove(terrestrial ores do not have nickel generally), need to get some of those still. You might have a natural earth occurring ore type stone too . I found one of those once with my Sovereign was about a foot and half deep or so had to shovel it out, college geology teacher said it was high percentile iron ore stone of specimen quality worth 200-300 $ easy , mine weighed about five pounds.

cool ring, not sure on the meteorite though, I know absolutely nothing about meteorites, Im sure someone will weigh in on it

Excellent hunt :) Your wife should be running high for a while now ;)
That appears to be a good candidate for a meteorite have it tested if you can. Nothing like having two stars shine on ya in one day.

nice job! Holy cow, how tall are you? Either you're massive or that guys is small! lol

I'm 6'10"... Lil mike is 5'1"... the possible sticks so hard to a rare earth magnet I can barely pull it off, it also mostly passed the tile streak test, only left a very faint gray line.

I think if you weigh the rock in water you will get a good idea if it is a real meteorite or not. That is one luck find for sure. You may have more there in the area as part of a field. You may have a good discovery there.

Did you have to buy/make an extended shaft for your metal detector? ;)
