My dear wife has always had the "luck of the Irish" in thrift stores. This is her best find so far:

Ada collects old junk plated silverware for the ornate designs they sometimes have. She makes them into wind chimes and other things. While looking for more old junk, she found a couple plastic bags of silverware that looked different. She couldn't read the hallmarks on the backs, and obviously neither could the thrift store people. One bag turned out to be old Persian silver, the other a number of very large Russian silver spoons and forks from the time of Tsar Alexander III, father of Nicholas II and Grand Duchess Xenia.

All were solid silver, but were thrown into the junk silverware bin because the marks were not in English.

My wife bought the whole works for $12, and eventually sold them for well over $800. Not a bad investment.

That is amazing. She has a great eye. I have gotten to the point where I now only search for silver pieces and advertising items when thrifting. I do stray from that on occasion but not often.
I hope the streak continues for you!

Wow, that's incredible! Congrats on a huge find!

Learn from her lol

Great score! Can we all see some pics of markings for educational purposes lol?

She chose wisely and so did you.
