A truncated sewer line? How long does the concrete wall go. Maybe where a culvert pipe broke off and branched somewhere else OR of course a tunnel leading to gold from the Alamo.

I'll reiterate that it's probably an old mine slope, there's hundreds of them around here. Sometimes after a real hard rainstorm we'll have what they call mine subsidence, there will be a gigantic hole in someone's backyard hundreds of feet deep. When I was a kid, they used to fill them with trucks,cars,school buses, etc. but the D.E.P. Stopped that practice. I remember in 1974 a friend of mines father woke up one morning and it was cold in the house, he was halfway down the cellar stairs when he noticed that his furnace was gone and the bottom of the stairs were hanging out over nothing ! True story.
